Governance, Structure and Code of Conduct update by Montpelier Villa FC

ree

After a lot of great work over the past few months by the new Governance Board of the club, we are delighted to share with you the new way 'Montpelier Villa FC Is Run', covering Governance, Structure, and Code of Conduct.

Our Vision and Principles

Montpelier Villa FC is committed to providing high-quality football experiences for all ages

and abilities, built on fairness, respect, and community.

Our governance framework ensures that every section of the club - from youth to veterans -operates transparently, accountably, and in line with shared values.

The Governance Board exists to:

● Provide oversight and consistency across all sections

● Ensure financial transparency and good practice

● Promote player welfare, inclusivity, and safeguarding

● Support the long-term sustainability of the club

Governance Board Structure

The Governance Board represents each major section of the club, ensuring that all voices

are heard and all activities align with Montpelier Villa FC’s constitution and policies.

Board Members:

JPL: Kevin Rowe

Youth: Stefan Amati

Women’s: Charlotte Smyrk

Vets: Stu Kempton

Men’s: Paul Sargeant

The Board meets regularly throughout the year to review budgets, registrations, compliance,

and strategic development.

Decisions are made collaboratively, with an emphasis on transparency, fairness, and

alignment to club values.

How Each Section Operates

Each section - Men’s, Women’s, Vets, JPL, and Youth - runs its own footballing

programme, led by its appointed section head and management team.

Sections are responsible for:

● Managing their own budgets and finances

● Maintaining accurate player registration lists

● Upholding the club’s Code of Conduct

● Reporting into the Governance Board for accountability and shared development

While sections operate semi-independently, they all contribute to and benefit from the central Governance Fund, which supports shared resources, facilities, and club-wide initiatives.

Financial Transparency

Montpelier Villa FC has adopted a unified financial system that ensures clarity and

responsibility across all sections.

Each section pays an agreed contribution per registered player to the club’s central fund,

enabling shared investment in facilities, equipment, and community programmes.

Annual accounts are reviewed by the Governance Board and summarised for all members.

Club Constitution

Our Club Constitution outlines the core framework through which Montpelier Villa FC is

governed — including membership, decision-making procedures, financial management,

disciplinary processes, and safeguarding.

Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct sets out the standards expected from everyone involved in the club

- players, coaches, parents, officials, and volunteers.

It reinforces our commitment to respect, integrity, teamwork, and fair play on and off the

pitch.

Transparency and Communication

The Governance Board shares regular updates through:

Spond posts and member communications

Quarterly governance meetings

Published documents on this website

All members are encouraged to review the Governance documents and raise ideas,

questions, or feedback through their section representative.

Next Governance Review

The next Governance Board meeting is scheduled for January 2026, when members will

review progress on the new banking structure and confirm ongoing compliance with

governance standards.

In Summary

Montpelier Villa FC is run by its members, for its members -

with clear structures, shared

accountability, and a commitment to fairness and development across every part of the club.

Together, we’re building a strong, transparent, and sustainable future for everyone involved

in Villa.
