Montpelier Villa is delighted to announce the appointment of David Baker to the position of first-team men's manager.
David has been a valued member of the Villa management team over the past few years and has been involved with the Villa youth sides as well as occasionally stepping in to help coach the first team and the Villa 23s.
He replaces Kev Green who has moved to Steyning Town Community Football Club. The club would like to thank Kev for his brilliant stint at the club and wish him all the best in his new role.
We asked Dave to say a few words about his appointment:
"First of all it's an honour to take over the role of 1st team manager at Montpelier Villa FC. I have been at the club now for 7 years and filled various roles during that
time. Back when I first started for the club I needed a more local club as travelling back to Kent where I was originally from to coach became unsustainable. I have had the privilege of managing/coaching at some fantastic clubs/academies which include Tonbridge Angels,
K Sports FC, Whitehawk and Soccer Elite.
After my playing career was cut short due to a bad injury I have now been coaching for over 10 years and have a big passion for playing football the right way - the 'Villa Way - and I want to take the time to personally thank Kevin Green who has helped me progress during his time at the club.
Although Kevin has left the club I have no doubt this club with the right support both on and off the pitch, we can continue to drive the club to be better in all areas.
The club and I have some exciting plans for the future. It will take a lot of hard work and there is a lot of work to be done in the off-season but I do believe we have the right ingredients to achieve our goals.
I am looking forward to introducing you in the coming weeks to the new coaching setup and also the new roles we are looking to fill off the pitch. As a community club, we still need your support so if there is anyone else out there that wants to be a part of a progressive grassroots football club then please get in touch!
